When I arrived in Benton City, WA, I decided to go see the movie, “Evan Almighty”. As I watched, it started revealing parallels with my trip; but more importantly the message of Ultimate Reconciliation (UR). If you plan to see the movie, read no further. After you have seen it, compare your findings with my list of 16 scripture references below. I have now seen this movie three times.
UR REVELATIONS
1-Acts 9:1-6 The Apostle Paul’s life changed with his “God encounter”. Like Paul, Evan was eventually, mightily converted heading for Washington as a congressman. There is nothing but rainbows and blue skies ahead, so he thought. He’s on top of the world. Out of his own mouth, “In the public eye, image is everything. I’m handsome, I’m successful, I’m powerful, I’m happy!” But like Paul, God gave him a new name, a new identity, a new purpose, and a new destiny.
2-Collosians 1:20 Paul states that ALL will be RECONCILED. Evan’s motto was “Change the World.” God gives him a word. It is a “Love Message” for ALL of creation (the good and the evil).
3-Matthew 5:43-48 Like Evan, when many of us start sharing the message of this SALVATION ARK, all of ‘hades’ takes place in our lives. Loving your enemies is acted out by Evan by building the Ark; which without his knowing was going to save his persecutors. Ultimately,the Ark would be the message, the tool, the vehicle; that God would use to save All, even our enemies.
4-I Timothy 4:10 One skeptic ask Evan why did God choose you. Evan quickly responds as did Paul in I Timothy, “He didn’t just choose me, He chose ALL of us.”
5-Romans 11:32 The bible says we are ALL in unbelief, and God will have mercy on ALL. Evan resists this ‘crazy word’ from God. Many of us when we first here about God’s unconditional love…..we don’t believe it and sometimes even persecute it.
6-Matthew26:69-74 When many finally believe this “love message,” there is a time that they want to stay in the closet. The Apostle Peter denied his Lord three times. If you stay on course, God will strip you from your closet garments and cause you to come out and be looked upon for all the world to see. Evan ‘literally’ is stripped naked. Jesus told Peter the day would come when someone else will dress you and take you where you did not want to go. Evan left his original identity and now was wearing a robe.
7-Luke 10:25-37 With the Good Samaritan, Jesus reveals how to obtain eternal life with the emphasis on how you treat your fellow man. Paul said in Galatians 5:14 there is only ONE LAW; love your neighbor. What does the word A-R-K mean or stand for in the movie? Acts of Random Kindness. Scripture repeatedly tells us that All will be judged according to our works….after that…..the fire purifies and All are saved (I Corinthians 3)
8-Acts 24:14 Paul states in Acts 24 that God will save ‘the just and the unjust’. In the movie, man’s greed and corrupt ways is the reason the flood takes place and the need for an ark. So God calls Evan to build this ark to save the wicked. In the movie the righteous and the mockers are saved.
9-Acts 9:5 God ask Paul In Acts 9 how long are you going to persecute me. In the movie, God says, “How long are you going to resist me, Evan?……..I (God) have ALL of eternity.”
10-I John 4:6-10 God has to tell Evan twice, “WHATEVER I Do, I Do Because I Love You.” The movie is based upon God’s desire or love for all of creation. Everything that happens in the movie is founded on the Love of God.
11-John 3:16-17 The people resist such apostasy stating an ark is because of God’s wrath and destruction meaning in western religion today, only a few will be saved. Evan says, “No! The ark is the vehicle of God’s love-unconditional for all humanity.
12-Collosians 1:15-17 Evan reads a message out of a book. “God is the creator of the universe. He Lives In ALL Things.” The Apostle Paul stated that by Him were ALL things created.
13-Romans 8:19-21 “All of creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God,” Paul states. In the movie creation-giraffes, monkeys, elephants, and many others start out waiting for the manifestation and later assisting in the salvation of ALL, the “Love Message”
14-Acts 15:15-17 Scholars will tell you that the Feast of Tabernacles (the last of the 3 major feasts) is a spiritual type of the last days harvest). It is stated in Revelation 21:3-5 “…..the tabernacle of God is now with men……….behold, I make ALL things new.” This 14 day feast this year will begin on September 15 and going through September 29. The middle date of this feast is September 22. Guess when the flood comes in this movie. You guessed it……midday on September 22. WHO WROTE THIS MOVIE ANYWAY?
15-I Corinthians 4:18 In the movie everything that man created was destroyed; everything that God created was saved!
16-Revelation 22:12-17 In the last 10 verses in the bible, it states that the Spirit and the bride say ‘Come’. And it reads those who heard outside the gates of the city then turned to others and said, ‘Come’. In the movie, Evan is on the ark and says to all the mockers, ‘Come’. As the flood approaches, the abusive, mocking policeman quickly turn into evangelists and turn to the people and say, ‘Get on the ark!’ (a fullfillment of Revelation 22). ALL do get on the ark and ALL are saved. The bible ends most appropriately in Revelation 22:21, The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you ALL. Amen.

PARALLELS OF THE MOVIE AND MY TRIP

I have grown my hair out and a beard for my Apostle Paul dramatizations on this trip. Supernaturally, Evan’s hair starts growing long. My hair and beard are gray. Evan’s starts turning gray as well.
On the west coast tour, I wore a robe in my Apostle Paul dramatizations. Evan wears a robe as he fulfills his calling.
Evan’s wife is contemplating going to Canada to get away from her crazy husband. I was in Canada the day before I saw the movie.
Evan has a great love for animals eventually that is. I found this same love for animals manifesting at almost every stop on this trip.
The “Change the World” motto in the movie, I actually ministered in Calgary, from the lyrics of the Beatles song, “Revolution” Here are a few verses of the song, “
You say you want a revolution
We all want to CHANGE THE WORLD
If you talk about destruction
Don’t you know that you can count me out
CHORUS
Don’t you know it’s going to be all right?”
I spent some time talking with a close friend ‘literally seconds’ before walking in the theatre. He was at a crossroads in his life. He felt his wife was pressuring him to make a choice between her and continuing his ministry of sharing this message of God’s Love. I prayed with him and walked into the theatre. This exact scenario takes place in the movie. I called him the next day and told him to go see the movie. That was so eerie.
The movie takes place in our nation’s capitol. In May I was in our nation’s capitol as a board member in the only organization of its kind, the Christian Universalist Association (CUA). An organization whose purpose is the proclaiming the “Love Message” that all will be saved. So it was in the movie, in Washington DC; YES! ALL WAS SAVED.
